Celebrity beauty secrets you need to know

What do celebrities do to have such perfect makeup everyday?

We’ve found a few favourite techniques of the stars that will help you walk the street like you’re on the red carpet.

Lip tips

For Kate Moss, lipstick is the makeup every woman needs. And her recommendation for the colour? Red, obviously. She says:

“It’s the ultimate shade. I wouldn’t wear it during the day, but at night, or if it’s a do, then it’s good. Lipstick is the classic, iconic makeup, isn’t it? You think of Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly, and it’s always about the lips.”

Gwen Stefani, on the contrary, prefers to play with the shades and create her own by mixing her lipsticks.

“I love to layer tons of different shades to create new colors. I start with matte lipstick that’s really dry then I put a more creamy, moist lipstick on top.”

And finally, Taylor Swift, who knows how to make hers last longer.

“There are tricks I’ve learned from makeup artists on shoots. They put on the red lipstick, then blot it with a tissue, then they put powder over the tissue and sort of press it onto your lips. Then re-apply. It turns it into a stain that lasts much longer.”

Eye advice

Isla Fisher has a secret to get perfectly curled eyelashes:

“To make lashes curl better, take a hair dryer to your eyelash curler for one or two seconds before using it.”

And to get a fresh look, there is a tip for your eyes that Candice Swanepoel revealed:

“If you want to look a little more awake use a cream pencil on the inside of your eye, it opens up your eyes. Put a shimmer in the corners…it makes it pop.”

Eva Longoria completes the list with her favourite mascara, “My collagen L’Oreal mascara!” She also loves wearing false eyelashes.

Radiant Skin

When it comes to skin Scarlett Johansson has a simple trick – shimmer.

“I always like to start with a matte base then add shimmer.”

And Brittany Snow and Selena Gomez both recommend the brand Olay for their skin, and the dermatologists too.

Brittany says “I have to be really picky about what I use, because my face is really oily in some places and then really dry in others…my dermatologist recommended Olay to me.”

And Selena’s view is “The beauty product I can’t live without is Oil of Olay face wash and lotion. It’s geared towards an older audience, but I figure that if I start working on my skin now, it can’t do me any harm!”

And maybe the ultimate tip is given by Charlize Theron? Changing your skincare products regularly is the key, so that your skin doesn’t get used to it.

“I like to change my cosmetics regularly so that my skin won’t become immune to the effects of the products.”
