Monday 23rd November saw one of the biggest events in the fashion calendar: the British Fashion Awards. It took place in the breathtaking London Coliseum with an elegant and glamourous setting, as always. From the red carpet styles to the winners of awards, everything you need to know is here.
Loads of celebrities were present at the event so we didn’t miss the chance to take a fashion lesson! Our favourite looks from the red carpet of the British Fashion Week 2015 were… drum roll!
The British model Jourdan Dunn, who received the award of the model of the year, in a gorgeous black and white Mugler gown
The American model Arizona Muse all in white Ralph & Russo with a femme fatale red lipstick.
Angela Scalon, the Irish journalist who surprised with this Charlotte Olympia half-dress half-coat.
Despite all those gorgeous looks, there were some fashion faux-pas, like Tanya Burr’s transparent dress, that didn’t go unnoticed.
The big winner this year was J.W. Anderson, who was elected both best menswear and womenswear designer despite tough competitors (Victoria Beckham, Christopher Kane, E Tautz, Tom Ford). Since its launch in 2008, the brand kept innovating and undoubtedly deserves those awards. Jonathan Anderson also confided how amazing it was to receive his awards from Orlando Bloom, his big crush (and ours!).
Charlotte Olympia has been named accessory designer of the year and Stella McCartney, awarded brand of the year with uproarious Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders presenting her award.
Karl Lagerfeld also received the outstanding achievement award for his giant role in the fashion industry. His prize was awarded by Anna Wintour who praised him, calling him the “soul of fashion”.
Three emerging designers were also awarded, making them the new designers to follow! Thomas Tait won the award of the emerging womenswear designer, Grace Wales Bonner the award of emerging menswear designer and Jordan Askill for accessory design. We won’t be surprised if those three soon become leaders of fashion trends!
